2001 Miami
In 2001, the SCAA conducted its first ever, scored Barista Certification event at the Miami conference. Michael LaFayette received the highest score. This event led to the SCAA’s annual United States Barista Championship in Anaheim 2002 (initially titled the North American Barista Championship).
