The World Barista Championship (WBC) is an international competition for professional baristas. The WBC strives to foster the production of quality coffee, encourage creativity and innovation, and create an international community of coffee professionals.
The 7th Annual World Barista Championship was held in conjunction with the SCAE's World Specialty Coffee Conference, Exhibition & Workshops, May 19-21, 2006, in Berne, Switzerland. Thirty-nine baristas from around the world battled it out for the title of the 2006 World Barista Champion.
The SCAA congratulates Klaus Thomsen of Denmark, the 2006 World Barista Champion.

Fourth Place: Anne Lunell, Sweden
Fifth Place: James Hoffmann, United Kingdom
Sixth Place: Ingibjorg Jona Siguroarsdottir, Iceland
The SCAA would also like to congratulate our 2006 United States Barista Champion Matthew Riddle (Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, Chicago, Illinois) for taking THIRD PLACE at the 2006 WBC.
7th Annual World Barista Championship Ranking Order
The 8th Annual World Barista Championship will be hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ), in Tokyo, Japan July 31 - August 2, 2007.
